Latina representation in the media is often skewed and one dimensional. The truth is, we are vast. We come from different countries and backgrounds, we have different skin tones, hair colors/textures, we are all shaped differently, we speak different languages (Spanish, English, Spanglish, et al). We are not the same, but we share a common bond of being Latinas. We are sisters.
Chingona Collective is a platform that highlights and profiles successful Latina creatives. Our hope is that other Latinas will read these features, get inspired, and see a piece of themselves in each of these women. For many of us growing up, the media didn’t provide very many images of Latinas as successful and powerful women. Today, the landscape has improved somewhat, but we can still do better. This is a place where we control our narrative to show just how Chingona we are.
